Don’t you just love it when someone calls an Airline on their mishandling of people, let alone their luggage?

“Musician Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar..

During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for youtube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded : “Good luck with that one, pal”. So he posted a retaliatory video on youtube.

The video has since received over 7.5 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: “Good luck with that one, pal”.

I Want Some Tarp

I want some tarp video. If you didn’t already know, Tarp stands for Troubled Assets Relief Program. It was about 750 billion dollars. The Bush administration spent half of it and left the other half for the Obama Administration. It will be interesting to see the results. The song is certainly spot on.

Bush Shoe Throw Grave Insult

Bush Shoe Throw Grave Insult? If you haven’t been following the news lately, there was a press conference in Iraq. The secret service makes sure the attendees are completely free of any kind of conventional weapons. But that doesn’t include shoes. So an Iraq national took off his shoes and started hurling them at the lame duck President. So what now? Will future press conferences require participants to remove their shoes? -And would they catch the errant shoe anyway? Maybe everybody should just walk around naked with a chip in their ear.

Does anyone find this a little silly? Most major media outlets are reporting that, in the Arab World, throwing a shoe is a “grave insult.” What does that mean? If he threw his laptop PDA, phone, balled up socks, or anything else, it is less of an insult in the Arab world? –or any world for that matter? I guess he could have thrown rice. Then he might have just looked like a confused wedding crasher.

Hail, Hail, the Gangs all Here

Daley, Blagojevich, Obama Chain of Command. With controversy surrounding the Illinois Governors office, many have called for Blagojevich’s head. We reviewed the complaint but got bored.at about page six of the 76 page report. Why? It reads like a list of run of the mill everyday things politicians and power mongers do.

Who doesn’t award friends with contracts when they do nice things for them? Blagojevich’s main problem seems to be that he has run out of friends. He wants to take controversial stands with the Illinois legislature. Evidence of this exists in his recent closing of some historical sites and parks across Illinois in an effort to balance the budget. The claims of impropriety seem more like a lashing out of the opposition, than proof of bona fide criminal intent.

The evidence in the wiretaps are already suspect to our mind. People say everything and mean nothing. If there is a group in the species most adherent to this observation, it is the group that flap their jaws more often than most: those involved in political office. How could anyone believe these charges are more than political daggers wielded at the guy that everybody currently loves to hate?

Calling for resignations? It seems that every major news media organization, every politico, hell even the President Elect Barack Obama, or who I like to call “America’s most famous first generation American” called for his resignation. Indeed Obama can say with clear conscious that no one from his office was involved in any wrong doing because they know there was no wrong doing in the first place. Political posturing. Maybe it is supposed to show decisiveness. We think it demonstrates unfairness. Blagojevich thought it was a joke when they came to take him away in handcuffs. And it was, but unfortunately it was at his, and the People of Illinois’ expense.

Don’t Ever Talk to Police
It’s counter intuitive, but you should never under any circumstances talk to the police. Anything you say can be used against you. But did you know this: By the rules of the American system of Justice and evidence, anything you say in your favor to police specifically cannot be used in your Defense in court. Here is an excellent video by Law Professor James Duane, It is a 27 minute video and has a response by a Veteran Police detective for an additional 20 minutes or so, but every American should watch this video and really understand your rights in a Police situation. This will help you understand the reason that Police must issue a Miranda warning at the beginning of any arrest.
